All 7 Oni Armaments:
Locations & Usage

✍️ By Onimusha Guide Hub📅 Updated Sep 10, 2026⏱ 12 min read🎯 Collectibles

Oni Armaments are mystical weapons scattered across Edo-era Kyoto, each granting Musashi a unique special ability powered by blue souls. Finding all 7 unlocks the Oni Armory trophy/achievement, and several are practically required for surviving the game's tougher bosses. This guide covers every location, the puzzles blocking your path, and which armaments to prioritize.

Missable Content Warning

Five of the seven armaments are in optional chests that can be missed if you rush through areas. However, you can return to any location after completing the final mission via the stage select. Nothing is permanently missable, but it's far easier to grab them on your first pass.

Overview & Priority Ranking

Here's every armament at a glance, ordered by when you can first obtain them:

Which Armaments to Prioritize

Two Celestials carry the most consistent value because their healing skill is always relevant. Earth-Shakers become essential once bosses start resisting basic attacks (their charged hammer blow shreds stamina). Flashing Void handles elite Genma that would otherwise eat too many resources. Still Water is the best late-game option for maintaining pressure through basic attacks rather than relying on armament windows.

1. Two Celestials — Kiyomizu-dera Temple

Type: Dual blades (paired swords) | Special: Healing skill | Missable: Yes (optional chest)

This is the earliest armament in the game and arguably the most useful throughout. The Two Celestials' special move restores health, making it invaluable for survival on higher difficulties.

1

Progress Through the Temple

Play through Kiyomizu-dera Temple until you reach the area with the second Thread Genma — the spider-like creature holding the second oni gate shut with its threads.

2

Destroy the Second Thread Genma

Kill the spider weaving the second thread. To reach it, squeeze through a gap in the cave you enter while tracing the second spider thread, just prior to opening the previously ensnared gate.

3

Loot the Dropped Chest

When the Thread Genma dies, the treasure chest suspended in its threads falls to the ground. Open it to receive the Two Celestials paired blades.

2. Oni Bow — Oni Refuge (Story-Gated)

Type: Bow | Special: Ranged shot / interrupt | Missable: No (automatic story item)

The Oni Bow is obtained automatically as part of the main story at the Oni Refuge (your home base). You'll find it in a chest on the main path — it cannot be missed. The bow is essential for interrupting certain boss attacks (notably Sasaki Ganryu's Gioh charge in his altered form) and for hitting distant switches.

3. Wind Whipper — Practice Grounds

Type: Whip | Special: Ranged pull / multi-hit | Missable: Yes

The Wind Whipper is found at the Practice Grounds (your home base training area). After completing the first training session and familiarizing yourself with the available training options, the character Takamura will create a chest. Inside it is the Wind Whipper.

This armament excels at pulling enemies toward you and hitting multiple targets in a cone — useful for crowd control when surrounded by Genma foot soldiers.

4. Earth-Shakers — Underground Laboratory, Level 4

Type: Twin hammers | Special: Charged hammer blow (stamina shred) | Missable: Yes

The Earth-Shakers are two massive hammers capable of ripping through enemy defenses. Their charged special move deals serious stamina damage and is one of the best tools for breaking the guard of armor-clad bosses and elite Genma.

1

Navigate to Underground Level 4

Enter the Underground Laboratory and progress downward until you reach Underground Level 4. This area is encountered during the main story quest "What Lurks Below."

2

Solve the Rotating Fan Puzzle

Progress through the level until you encounter the rotating fan puzzle. Time your movement through the spinning blades to reach the room beyond. You'll need to climb onto one of the fan blades to access the next area.

3

Find the Chest

Once inside the room beyond the fan, head left and look near the wooden cell and the collection of weapons. Open the nearby chest to obtain the Earth-Shakers. If you miss it, you can return to the laboratory later via stage select.

5. Firebird Flute — Eastern Kyoto / East Spirit Shrine

Type: Flute (fire projectiles) | Special: Firebird summon / AoE burn | Missable: Yes

The Firebird Flute is located in Eastern Kyoto, specifically at the East Spirit Shrine area. It fires flaming projectiles that can ignite groups of enemies and is particularly effective against Genma weak to fire. Look for a hidden path behind the shrine's main structure — the chest is tucked in an alcove guarded by a pair of elite Genma.

6. Flashing Void — Mount Oe

Type: Spear | Special: Void thrust / armor-piercing | Missable: Yes

The Flashing Void is found on Mount Oe, the domain of the colossal Genma Shuten Doji. This spear is essential for handling elite Genma that resist basic attacks — its void thrust pierces armor and deals direct health damage. The chest is located in a side cavern off the main path up the mountain, before the boss arena. Look for a breakable wall near a waterfall.

7. Still Water — Arashiyama Swamp

Type: Odachi (greatsword) | Special: Flowing slash / pressure maintenance | Missable: Yes

Still Water is the final armament, found in the Arashiyama swamp area. This massive odachi is the best late-game option for players who want to maintain constant pressure through basic attack strings rather than waiting for armament windows. Its special move, the Flowing Slash, lets you cancel attack recovery into dodges, creating near-uninterrupted offense.

To find it, navigate to the deepest part of the swamp and look for a sunken temple structure. The chest is inside, guarded by a Nue (the lightning-wielding beast Genma). Come prepared — this is one of the tougher optional fights in the game.

Oni Armory Trophy / Achievement

Collecting all 7 Oni Armaments unlocks the Oni Armory trophy (PlayStation) / achievement (Xbox / Steam). Even after completing the final mission, you can return to any stage via stage select and grab any armaments you missed. The trophy pops as soon as you open the final chest — no need to equip or use them all.

Efficient Collection Route

If you're doing a post-game cleanup run, collect in this order: Two Celestials (Kiyomizu-dera) → Wind Whipper (Practice Grounds) → Earth-Shakers (Underground Lab) → Firebird Flute (Eastern Kyoto) → Flashing Void (Mount Oe) → Still Water (Arashiyama). The Oni Bow is automatic. This route follows the game's natural progression and minimizes backtracking.
